The Couple That “Resets” Together Succeeds Together

This husband and wife team took the challenge of resetting to a healthy lifestyle and accomplished that and more in only 3 weeks.  Kristin and John W. lost a combined 29 lbs in just 21 days with Beachbody's Ultimate Reset.  We talked with them to find out about their experience and success and here is what they had to say about it:

What was your physical and emotional condition like before starting Beachbody's Ultimate Reset?

John:  Coming off the holiday season, and a busy kid’s sports season before that, I was feeling the effects of too much eating out, too many holiday parties and just the “winter blahs.” My pants were all tight and I was dreading finding stuff in the closet that would fit. This all led to being discouraged and that takes a toll on your general disposition. While I knew I needed to make some changes, I was having a hard time finding the motivation to get started.

Kristin:  Prior to doing the Reset, I wasn’t in bad shape but I had gained weight due to the death of my mother.  I couldn’t seem to get my eating under control.  Based on prior experience, I knew that doing the Reset was just the discipline I needed to break the stress eating and get back on track.  I was right!

 Why did you choose to do Beachbody's Ultimate Reset?

J:  I had seen my wife do the Reset on several occasions, and each time I got closer and closer to thinking I would like to try it myself.  I was always a little worried that I wouldn’t be able to “handle” the vegetarian aspect of the Reset but given my circumstances, I was ready to give it a try. I really liked the idea of a 21-day program – I figured I could do anything for 3 weeks.

How was your overall experience on the Reset?

K:  I had a wonderful experience with the Reset.  One, because my husband decided to do it with me this time, so food prep and mealtime was much easier.  I absolutely love the food and recipes provided in the nutrition guide.  Such a great variety of meals and still the flexibility to swap something you’re not fond of or allergic to.  After the first couple of days, I was never hungry.  As a matter of fact, sometimes I couldn’t even finish my meal.  I also loved letting my body heal from the inside out, and I was doing a lot less laundry since I wasn’t exercising.

What were your results with the Ultimate Reset?

J: Results wise – awesome! Down 19 pounds and a bunch of inches.  One of the best results I had with the Reset was my energy level. I used to get to the afternoon at work and would find myself running to get a coffee because I was so drained. On the Reset, I never had that run-down feeling at all.

How has the BB Ultimate Reset changed your body and your life?  What part of your results are you most proud of?

K:  I’m most proud that I pulled myself – or the Reset – pulled me out of my unhealthy pattern.  Even as a fitness instructor, I find that if you don’t watch your nutrition, you can undo your hard physical work.  It was so nice not to have my “middle” top of mind.  Felt much lighter, brighter and happier even after the first few days.

J: The Reset was a great jump-start to getting back to a healthier way of life and provided a great lead-in to getting back into an exercise program (P90X3); I’m not sure of many other programs that could have given me the results I achieved in that limited amount of time. I still have a lot of work to do but seeing the results gives you the motivation to really jump in and keep going to see more improvement.  It was good to go to the closet and not dreading trying to find something to wear where I didn’t risk blowing the button off.

How important was it to have the support of others during your Ultimate Reset experience?

J:  I did the Reset along with my wife Kristin. Having someone going through the Reset right along with me was critical and would be highly recommended for everyone. It was also great to post in Kristin’s Facebook group page – it helps keep you accountable and in turn may also encourage others. 

K:  As a Beachbody Coach, I have been supporting people with their health and fitness goals for years.  It’s truly that support that makes the difference in someone’s success.  So, putting it out there to my groups that I was "Resetting" helped hold me accountable to my goal.  I also love all of the tools available including Facebook groups for questions.  It is a very user-friendly program with lots of support.

Can You Get Results in Only 30 Minutes of P90X3?

Can you get good results in just 30 minutes of P90X3? Check out Kristin and Levi C… we think the answer is a resounding YES!

Kristin and Levi did their workouts on the same schedule, but at different times. Someone would take care of the kids while the other worked out, and they would switch. On the weekends, they could find the time to do their workouts together. Most importantly, they brought it for only 30 minutes every day and got awesome results! Together, they've lost 29 lbs, with more to come! They started Round 2 right after Day 90, and we can't wait to see their next set of Before and After photos. Read what Levi has to say about their experience:

Levi: All of my life, I have struggled with my weight.  I have always been up and down and never been able to keep it off.  In high school, I weighed 250 lbs my junior year.  That summer I lost about 45 lbs in unhealthy ways.  Then I instantly started putting it back on.  I met my wife and a few years later we got engaged.  We both decided to get into shape for our wedding.  At that time I weighed about 225 lbs.  We did P90X and had great results.  I got married weighing 196 lbs.  Over the next years we had kids and settled into our lives.

That brings us to the start of 2013.  I stepped on the scale and saw 259.  I decided right then I needed to make a change for me, my wife and my kids.  Over the next number of months I tried to eat better and workout more.  I was able to lose a few pounds but nothing major.   However, I couldn’t get what I was looking for because of the time commitment...  There was no way that I could totally commit to a program and get what I needed out of it.  I just gave in that I would never see fewer than 220 on the scale again. 

Then we saw P90X3.  Right away we knew that we had to get it.  I started working out harder in order to get ready for the program.  Just knowing that it was coming motivated me more.  I got down to 225lbs to start the program.  On December 12 2013 I turned 31 years old.  Seven days later we started the program.  Over the next 90 days my wife and I pushed each other as hard as we could.  Even though we weren’t able to do all our workouts together, we talk about them every day.  When one of us has a bad day, the other is there to pick them up.  We truly make a great team.  We even have gotten my parents and Kristin’s mom doing the program.   The best part is that our kids want to work out with us sometimes.  I take great reward in knowing that I might be helping them to not struggle with weight as I have.  

The biggest thing the length of the workouts has allowed me to do is do them in the morning.  With two kids and a business to run, I don’t have much free time.  At only 30 minutes, I can easily do my workout in the morning before work.  That way I don’t have to sacrifice any family time or worry about working out so late that I can’t sleep at night.  Ultimately, that leads to the fact that this has been a life style change for me and I can continue this forever.  Because it’s so easy to work into my schedule and I don’t have to worry about time, I can keep this up.  That’s the best part!! 

After 90 days I am back down to 204 lbs.  A weight that I truly didn’t think I would ever see again.  But the best part is, I know that it is only the beginning.  This program has done more than just get me into better shape.  This has truly changed my life.  Because the way this program is set up, I know that we have made a lifestyle change and will be able to continue this forever.  As Tony says “five to seven day a week for the rest of your life.”  I know that in the upcoming months and years, I will get into even better shape.  I know that I will be able to see my abs and do 20 pull-ups.  This is just the start for Kristin, our kids, and myself, and I can’t wait to see what is still to come.

One of the incredible women who has experienced an amazing body transformation is Amy A., a mom of 3 who used PiYo and Shakeology to reshape her body and lose over 30 lbs!  Check out her amazing journey below in her own words:

I was 38 years old when I made the decision to dedicate my heart and soul to doing whatever it took to get my health and fitness back. I was the mother of 3 beautiful children, and I was not able to be the kind of mother I knew I wanted to be, or could be for them.  I had spent years in poor health, all the while my doctors said that I was “fine” according to their tests.  I knew I was NOT fine.  I had weekly migraines, digestive problems (indigestion, chronic yeast infections and constipation).  I was fatigued to the point of needing a daily nap to make it through the day.  I was overweight, I had skin rashes and I was mentally beaten down with these physical challenges. I knew that if I could simply start exercising, then I could start turning my health around.

I had met a friend, through our sons’ school who was a fitness instructor at the gym near where I lived, and she encouraged me to join the gym and start attending group fitness classes. When I was ready to join, I did just that.  One of the first classes I attended was PiYo, and I was HOOKED!  I love a good challenge, and PiYo was just the right kind of challenge for me – tough but not impossible to do.  After several months attending classes at the gym, I eventually joined a Beachbody challenge group, which got me started on drinking Shakeology and eating healthier consistently.  THAT is when my life truly changed. Combining the daily exercise with the proper diet and Shakeology helped me lose 36 pounds and initially drop 10 pant sizes. I since gained about 5-6 pounds back in lean muscle and LOVE my body shape!!!!

I have now been instructing for over a year, and I instruct PiYo, TurboKick and BodyPump.  Hands down, PiYo is the base that all my other exercises and formats build from.  By teaching and taking PiYo, I am able to build strength in both my large and small muscle groups, work on balance, get cardio without the impact of most cardio classes or running, and it’s easy for me and my students to pick up quickly.  Everyone that comes to my class are pleasantly surprised by how much they enjoy PiYo and how different it is from all other classes. They keep coming back for more, just as I did!  I’m so thankful for PiYo because it has been a format that is full circle for me.  It got me started and kept me going at the beginning my fitness journey, and now I am able to give back to others by helping them in their journey to health and fitness.

Committing to the Asylum and Shedding the Baby Weight

Kristen K. is a busy mom of two little ones and found the time to complete not only Asylum: Volume 1 but also Asylum: Volume 2!  After 60 days of committing herself to the Asylum she lost a total of 23 lbs, and is ready to take on anything!  Read all about her story below:

I have a 2 year old son and a 9 month old daughter so my life is very busy. I have been a coach for 2 years and decided after the birth of my daughter I needed to get in shape again. I was told I had to wait 6 weeks before doing any workout program since I had a c-section. This was very hard for me to look in the mirror and see the extra weight that I had gained but I knew with motivation and determination through Beachbody I would be able to achieve my goals.

Getting up and pushing play was the hardest since sleep was lacking with a baby, but after I started to see results in the mirror and my clothes were fitting again it became easier. It took a year to lose the weight with my 2 year old, but my eating plans and workout challenges made this weight loss easier!

I was given Insanity Asylum 1 by my coach and was told 'here try this 30 day challenge, but just to let you know most don't finish the program.' Well I was going to show my coach I was going to finish this challenge and I did! I loved it so I purchased Insanity Asylum 2! I love having a schedule to follow and needed to start something since I was in this workout routine. My husband who is in great shape started working out with me at 5:15 am everyday because he could see the difference in how I felt and looked!

This is a fast paced challenge. I love the way you feel after working out an hour and the sweat dripping off your face knowing wow did I just do that! I love my stomach! I had a baby 9 months ago via c-section and look at my definition and without doing hundreds of sit-ups daily. My arms show that multiple push-ups pay off. Who knew that push-ups would be the easiest part of the program.

I have confidence in myself now. I feel as though I can take on a challenge and actually complete it. The results are rewarding when others ask you how you lost the weight so fast I reply Beachbody and determination. I post pictures of my journey on my Facebook page and when the family goes out people come up to me and say I have been following you and you are a big motivation for me! My husband replied I didn't realize you had so many fans. This makes me feel good knowing I am helping others too.

Lose Weight Fast with the 21 Day Fix

By now you've probably heard all the hype about Beachbody's new program, 21 Day Fix. It's designed to take the guesswork out of losing weight, and helps you learn how to eat clean and get results FAST! Check out Ashleen C., who lost her baby weight fast in just 21 days!

I just had a baby and was 6 weeks postpartum when I started the 21 Day Fix. I felt out of shape and my belly felt like total jelly, though, it was for a worthy cause! :) But I wanted to get my hot body back again fast.

I am so short on time now that I have a newborn. I needed a program that took the guesswork out of my food prep, plus had quick but efficient workouts. Husband and Wife Duo Lose Combined 160 Pounds!

This Valentine's Day, we wanted to share the story of an amazing couple that lost weight together!! Check out David and his wife Lindsay who together have lost 160 pounds. You know what they say! The couple that T25's together thrives together ;)

My wife and I have lost 160 lbs since January 2013 thanks to Beachbody! We were miserable, stressed out, and fat. And the worst part about it was, we were still in our 20s. The time of our lives when we should be the happiest! I finally decided to make a chance in January of last year and my wife recently joined me. Since then I have lost over 140 lbs and my wife 20. 160 lbs in 1 year?? It has changed everything and we have Beachbody to thanks. Shakeology changed our lives! We have a lot of #beachbodylove that's for sure!

I was 455 lbs at the end of 2012. I let myself slip, and gained 100 lbs in a year. I was a fast food addict and ate it 5-7 times per week. I had been an athlete my whole life, even earned a D-1 scholarship to play football, but once my playing career was over, I letmyself go. I have always battled with weight, and I always blamed it on something other than myself... I thought "I work out, I play sports, and I can't lose weight. I'm just doomed."

Finally on January 1st 2013 I took a deep breath and for once in my life I was honest with myself. I was addicted to bad food, sugar, carbs. I was not a victim... I was the killer. And I needed to change.

Since that day I have completed insanity twice, combat, P90X and Focus T25. I became a coach, reached diamond in 39 days, helped over 100 people start a program and lost 140 lbs. Recently my wife joined me in Les Mills COMBAT and is now in my Focus T25 challenge group! She has lost 20 pounds! Nearly everyone In my family is doingShakeology and a Beachbody program. And everyone is getting results.

I used to think my calling was Football. And once that was over I felt worthless, hopeless, and I felt like a failure. Now, I know that what I am doing now is my calling. I am literally adding years to my, and my families lives... It's truly an incredible feeling. And it all started with Shaun T last year. He has been a huge part of my success and I have always said... This big tough burly man is going to be a blubbering baby when I meet that man. I could go on and on about this journey but the most important thing is.. I became my own hero. I replaced excuses with commitment. And bad habits with a healthy good lifestyle.

How Diane Was Able to Lose 100 Pounds in One Year

Diane H. needed a major change in her life after experiencing a tragedy. She suddenly found herself depressed and turned to food for comfort. She needed to lose 100 pounds, and Slim in 6 helped her do that in just one year!! She lost 40 pounds in her first six weeks, and kept after it, literally working her butt off. Congrats to Diane!! Read her amazing story in her own words below.

Prior to being introduced to Beachbody, I had struggled with my weight for several years. I had a tragic event occur in my life and I did not know how to deal with it and so I dove into my work to ignore the thoughts and began to feed my emotions with food. In January 2012, I looked in the mirror and did not recognize the woman starting back at me. I weighed in at 298 pounds. I was overweight, stressed, filled with sadness, deeply depressed, felt completely defeated and had a very bad relationship with food. I knew something needed to change and I needed to be that change! And so I embarked on a journey to lose 100 pounds and rediscover myself and the life that I had lost.

My weight prevented me from living. I was fearful of beginning any type of workout or physical activity.  I also began to isolate myself from my family and friends do to my embarrassment. I felt as if I was in my own prison, I didn’t attend family or friend events. I missed weddings, birthday parties and holiday events. 

I heard about Slim in 6 from a friend. I tried so many different types of programs and I couldn’t keep up with them and it mentally defeated me. With Slim in 6 , I could actually complete the workouts without pressure on my knees or back because it¹s a low impact aerobic workout program. It was also very convenient to travel with and perform the workouts in my hotel room.  I travel weekly for work and this program was perfect! In addition, I was able to complete the workouts; I felt a sense of accomplishment each time I worked out which really helped me mentally to break through the barriers and fears to continue moving forward!

 My goal was to lose 100 pounds in 1 year and I accomplished that goal!  I love the beach and when I reaches my 100 pound weight loss goal, I celebrated in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico with my husband and close friends. I used that trip as my grand reveal in a bikini! I remember feeling so proud and confident as I walked down the beach in my bikini. I hadn’t felt that way in years. 

I have been able to regain my self-confidence, overcome my depression, get my nutrition back on track and rebuild my body. Most of all, I gained control of my life again. Today I am happier and healthier than I have ever been and I owe it all to Beachbody! I can honestly say that Beachbody saved my life.

40 Pounds Down with Focus T25

The new year is already ripe with some amazing transformations.  Kerstin B. has completely reshaped her body with Focus T25 and she is not done yet!  She lost 40 lbs in just 15 weeks of working out with Focus T25 and drinking Shakeology!  Here is what she had to say about it:

It began with a photo.  We visited my husband's family in November 2012.  I got the photos in December.  I didn't recognize myself and I immediately cried.  I was FAT.  I had been denying the "rolls" I saw on my back telling myself that they weren't real. Clothes weren't fitting, and I blamed the dryer.  When I saw the "fat" photo I couldn't deny it anymore.  I started running and going to the gym.  My results were okay but my body fat percentage was still high and I couldn't see any muscles.

My coach found me on Instagram and added me to Team Beachbody.  She talked to me about Shakeology and this program coming out in July called T25.  At the time I had plateaued and was angry with my slow progress.

When T25 was released I bought the challenge pack because I wanted to try Shakeology.  So I signed up , got the challenge pack and in the first week I was down 6-7 lbs!  I was amazed.  I broke through my plateau and ended up surpassing my weight loss goal by nine extra pounds!

Kerstin is currently in the middle of her second round of Focus T25 and not done yet! Congrats on your amazing results Kerstin, we can't wait to see your results from round two.

82 Pounds Down… 80 To Go!

Shawn R. is on an unstoppable roll this year!  After already losing 82 lbs with ChaLEAN Extreme and Shakeology she is tackling the 80 lbs she has left to go with the support of her husband and the amazing Turbo Fire and P90X workouts.

I have always struggled with my weight.  When I was younger, I was always one of the larger girls in my class.  When I went to college, I decided my sophomore year that I was going to lose the weight and did not care how I did it.  I worked out 2-3 times a day and tried to live on oranges and cottage cheese.  I truly thought this was the best way to lose weight.  I lost about 35 lbs and at the end of the year I weighed my lowest weight at 150 lbs.  I then began to date my future husband and my weight gain began.  I became comfortable in our relationship and by the time we were married in October of 2004 I weighed about 180 lbs. 

I had our first daughter in April 2007 and experienced horrible postpartum depression.  It took me almost 6 months to go to counseling and get help.  In those 6 months, I used food to medicate and was a horrible emotional eater.  My weight gain continued and I had another daughter in October 2010.  At this point, I was over 300 lbs and had horrible self-esteem.  The following year we decided to put a focus on our health.  I then found out I was pregnant with our third child (surprise!) and this was very concerning since I was so heavy.  I dealt with a lot of health problems when I was pregnant with him. 

Slowly as I approached my 32nd birthday in March 2013, I was tired, sad, depressed, and my self-confidence was at its lowest point.  I spent a good amount of my time avoiding others and trying to ensure that I was not put in situations that made me uncomfortable.  I started to have moments where things started to click and I knew I needed to change my life.  One of my good friends had a conversation with me where she stated, “You only have one body, you might as well treat it right,” and for some reason I came away from that conversation really thinking that she was right and what was I doing to my body. 

The second thing that happened and really woke me up was I saw a video online that a mom had created about her story with postpartum depression, weight gain, and how she lost it doing ChaLEAN Extreme.  I could so connect with her story and spent an hour on the couch just crying.  It got me thinking that if she could it, why can’t I do it?  

I started doing the ChaLEAN Extreme program on March 18th, 2013 and went full force with my eating and working out.  My husband joined me in getting healthy and took up running.  It was amazing to have his support and know he was also on the same journey.  I really struggled at first, I was so overweight and had no energy but slowly things got better.  I LOVED the program and actually found myself looking forward to working out each day.  Food was also a challenge but listening to Chalene showed me that I could eat and lose weight!  I spent time working on prepping healthy foods for my family and learning a whole new way of how to nourish my body.  

After the first three months, I lost almost 50 lbs!  Taking the result pictures really showed me how much I had changed in those 3 short months.  I decided to do the ChaLEAN Extreme program once again since I loved it so much!     

My second round results of ChaLEAN Extreme were once again amazing and I felt like a new person, with a total weight loss of over 82 lbs.  I completed the program and was able to run a 5k on my treadmill which was amazing since I could not walk 20 minutes when I started!  

I am now an active mom in my children’s lives, I play with them and feel like I have more patience and time to give them.  I used to struggle with taking time away from my children to work out but now I know it makes me a better mom and that time is totally worth it.  I have made so many new and wonderful friends because I do not hide anymore and actually live life.  Many of them are on this same journey as I and it has made the journey even more worthwhile and enjoyable.  I feel an energy that I have not felt in years to get out there and really live life!  ChaLEAN Extreme and Shakeology have truly changed my life!

My journey is not done and I currently just began P90X with my husband and plan on doing Turbofire/Chalean Extreme starting in January!  I still have about 80 lbs I would like to lose and know without a doubt that I can do it with the help of the Beachbody programs!
